DO Day of Compassion and TOUCH Updates

Thanks to everyone that participated in the D.O. Day of Compassion this year! Please continue to send in any pictures/stories you have about how you or your students celebrated. If you need additional cards to hand out, please just let me know: COSGPprograms@gmail.com

At our last COSGP meeting, we started to discuss various volunteer activities that do/don’t count towards TOUCH and it seems like each campus has their own interpretation of the TOUCH Protocols. In hoping to get all campus TOUCH coordinators on the same page in accepting and rejecting TOUCH hours, I’ll be planning a town hall meeting for a discussion on these topics in hopes to standardize practices across all campuses. Keep an eye out after the new year for an invitation and please let me know if there are any specific topics you’d like to discuss with all campus TOUCH coordinators!

DO Day of Compassion: October 19th, 2013

  • COSGP Student Services Committee came up with a “Pay it Forward” idea for all campuses to celebrate DO Day of Compassion this year
  • Cards have been printed and given to COSGP representatives from each DO campus. These cards will be distributed to students/faculty to share with the community in the form of random acts of kindness
  • Ask them to do a random act of kindness for a stranger, and then hand them the card
  • Ideas:
    • Hold the door open for someone
    • Buy coffee for the person in line behind you
    • Help someone with their luggage in the airport
    • Let someone have your seat on the bus/metro
    • Give up your taxi for someone in a hurry
