OMED 2013 Las Vegas Research Update

The fall quarterly meeting in Las Vegas, NV produced a lot of discussion within the research committee regarding our work for this year. A few focused projects we discussed included conducting some small research projects to produce presentable data regarding GME issues concerning our osteopathic students. We aim to look at trends in match data from both the NRMP and NMS to draw a few conclusion on where our students choose to do a residency program and what type of program they choose. Also, the committee would like to take some time at the winter quarterly meeting to do an interactive session and talk on presenting different types of research and some of the nuances that come along with these different types of presentations. We would like to involve students who have successfully done research (many of which we have in our council) to share their experience and any advice they have to get started into medical/clinical research. Currently I am working on organizing an important links type page to supplement our research section on the website so hopefully that will be posted soon. I look forward to working with the Research Committee leading up to our winter quarterly meeting.

Welcome from the Research Committee

Hello Everyone,

The Research Committee’s goals are to establish and share opportunities for osteopathic students to take part in medical research. We are working hard this year to organize a usable document that encompasses a wide variety of resources and gather feedback from students who have utilized these various resource to create a database for students to search and find a project that suits their personal needs. We also plan to make how-to videos and documents produced by students who have successfully undergone and published their research. Please keep checking back here to find more resources as they become available.
